Jasper John's Sculptures

I have a love hate relationship towards his work. I find it very interesting but very weird at the same time. He has a lot of great textures in his pieces and the use of metal is awesome. But I wasn't a fan of the light sluptures. I was a fan of the glasses with the mouths inside the eye lenses I thought that was very abstract and unique.

Assemblage Artists

Image result for robert rauschenberg assemblage artwork
right: untitled "combines" 1963
left: Canyon 1959

Both of these pieces are created by Robert Rauschenberg. Most of his work is from trash and scrape he found on the streets of New York City. I personally love the flow that happens in these pieces the way your eye just goes with the piece. For me, my eye slowly travels through out the art work. I love the colors in the piece on the right and the bird on the piece on the left. It emphasizes its self from the whole piece.

1st: The Garden of Eden, 2003
2nd: Bed Springs, 1960
3rd: Twins in the Forest, 1989
4th: Wide Walls (Walking Dream with a Four Foot Collage, 1965)

All were created by Jim Dine.
Jim Dine was an American artist, i absolulety love his work mainly because they are all so different. The ideas, colors, design, textures each are different and unique. Artist do this a lot, but his are all still in the same media "assemblage", and i find this very unique and interesting about him. Just by searching in "Jim Dine Assemblage art" you get this whole variety of different designs and textures, and colors that pop out everywhere.

Mayan Ceramics is produced in the pre-Columbina Maya Culture of Mesoamerica. Its a reflection of their lifestlye and culture. They use paper, plster, wood and stoone for carving and what ever they can find to sculpt like clay.

I really like the way the carvings in these pieces the different sizes and thicknesses. I like the designs, and the fact that they represtent something for their culture.

Negative Space

Negative space, is the area around and between subjects in a piece of art. Its a blank area where there is no detail except emptiness. Space is used for artistic effect for the "real" subject of the image/art piece. Its the empty and/or empty space around an object that results in defining the object. It helps gain attention and emphasize your main point of view in your art work.

The last three sculptures, were created by Sukhi Barber. Barbers common art work is a person in the meditation position, and sculpted into it is negative space. The artist uses shapes and designs, carves them out and the negative space around and in it, gives the design more of a pop. Emphasizing the emptiness.

How Private is Your Personal Information?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrjT8m0hcKU

I find this video very interesting. Pretty much they show people that advertisements like, liking a facebook page, or checking in, can easily cause you problems. Like fraud. These people were so shocked and uncomfortable and they didnt know how it happened. And I feel like most people dont see that its so easy to hack them if they dont keep their info private. And I feel like this AD/video can help people become aware.

Dark Matter: The Experimental Motion Graphics of Joe Street

Joe Street, is a graphic designer in the UK.
https://vimeo.com/5tr33t

Because he is a graphic designer he uses the computer to create his art work. Joe Street is very anonymus online, so finding info is hard. I like his artwork because it looks like an illusion. Especially his Dark Matter set.

I really liked the video in the link above, the sound goes with the movement of the piece, and it makes it more realistic in feeling like its coming towards you. It feels like your in actual space, and watching the stars do a light show for you.
I personally loved the fact that how the Dark Matter art work, is set up around things that look like its in space. Dark Matter Dynamics feels sort of like your in a spaceship or some sort of room, an antigravity room. The xp+sound feels like your floating in space.

Jane Alexander, Bom Boys, Sculpture Today book

Image result for jane alexander bom boys

Jane Alexanders art work is based around human bodies being transformed into weird animals. I like the way she is able to shape the body into the animal head so smoothly. The faces are weird and disturbingly cute. The one on the left, to me looks styled to be like a child. The one on the right reminds me of Aberations from the show Wayward Pines. They are mysterious creatures, i find it very funky with the color and shapes. Alexander is South African artist, as she became more aware of the social and political issues in South America, she started incorperating her view of it all into her pieces.
